DAR MOTTO:  "God, Home, and Country"

"Any woman is eligible for membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) who is not less than 18 years of age, and who is descended from a man or woman, who with unfailing loyalty to the cause of American Independence, served as a sailor, or a soldier or civil officer in one of the several Colonies or States...or as a recognized patriot, rendered material aid thereto."

Proving your lineage can be fun and you will learn a great deal about your family and our country's history in the process. The National Society has provided an area on the NSDAR website which provides many tips for establishing your descent from a Revolutionary patriot.

Membership requirements are the same for all chapters. No chapter discriminates against applicants on the basis of race or religion. Women interested in becoming members of the Daughters of the America Revolution (DAR) are encouraged to attend a chapter meeting. Please email our for information on meetings.

As part of our membership program, Sagamore Chapter conducts periodic genealogical workshops. These workshops are open to the public; however, prospective members who may be having difficulty in tracing their ancestry are especially invited and encouraged to attend. Both chapter officers and members are available to offer suggestions and provide assistance. The workshops provide an excellent opportunity for those interested in joining DAR to become acquainted with chapter members.

"God grant that not only the love of liberty but a thorough knowledge of the rights of man may pervade all the nations of the earth, so that a philosopher may set his foot anywhere on its surface and say: "This is my country."
