The Sagamore Chapter has grown during the years since its formation in 1965.   Our roots are built on the love of God and country upon which is our Nation’s foundation.  Members work together to perpetuate DAR ideals in the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence.  We sustain historic preservation, education, and patriotism within the DAR organization and throughout the community.  Lasting friendships are made and enjoyed as we work together.
We take an active role in the community and members can be seen in a number of activities and functions throughout the year.  A Bingo party is hosted for veterans in Leavenworth Hospital in June.  In December, members will be bell ringing for the Salvation Army.  At Naturalization ceremonies, cookies and punch are served by members to welcome our new American citizens.   In September, the chapter celebrates Constitution Week with a display at the Town Center Library.  Food labels and other donations go toward educational support of the DAR Schools.  Annually, winners are selected from grades 5-8 for the DAR American History Essay Contest, and from high school seniors for the DAR Good Citizens Awards.

Monthly meetings are enriched with an opening devotion, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, The American’s Creed, and the Star-Spangled Banner.  The President General’s Message from the current DAR Magazine, a National Defense Report, and special programs are presented.
